Religions and Philosophies

I would say that my religion that we studied this year is Buddhism. It just seems like such a interesting and relaxing religion, but I am not for killing my own desire. To find out more on Buddhism, you can click on here. Next, I would have to say that my next favorite religion that we studied this year is Hinduism. My favorite part of Hinduism was when we learned about the caste system in AP and Global. If you want to find out more on Hinduism, click on here. The philosophy that we learned in AP and Global so far was Confucianism. I loved learning about the five relationships and filial piety. If you want to learn more about Confucianism, then you can click on here. I have learned two more philosophies, but I learned them in my Global class and this is AP World History, so I think I will stick with what I learned in AP World History. So, these are the religions and philosophies that I learned in AP World History. I hope I will learn more and that you will check out these websites. They have so much information on all three belief systems I described above. Bye!

Syncretism of Buddhism

Buddhism was spread from India using syncretism. It spread to countries like Japan, Korea, and China. In an assignment we did in our class was that we were assigned one of the countries above and read from the document reader and answer questions based on it. I got Korea. It was quite interesting. In Korea, there was two cities that the document reader talked about, Paekche and Silla. In Paekche, there was two monks that brought Buddhism using sacred texts they found. In Silla, there was a king that wanted the city to practice Buddhism, but the court officials did not want to. They felt that it was in violation of the Norm. I believe the Norm comes from Confucianism, so Korea believed in Confucianism. Anyway, the king had to force everyone to follow it. In the other countries, Japan and China, they used different things. In Japan, they used trade routes and monks, and in China, they used magic. I wonder that now that I read about syncretism, I think it would be cool to find out more cultures and religions that came form syncretism. I can't wait.

Welcome Message

Hi, I am Jennifer S. One of my favorite subjects in school is history. I like learning about different dates, discoveries, and people. In my AP World History class, we have 5 different AP themes. These themes are: interaction between humans and the environment, development and interaction of cultures, state-building, expansion, and conflict, creation, expansion, and interaction of economic systems, and development and transformations of social structures. The one I like is the second one. It is the development and interaction of cultures. On this one, it is about religions, philosophies, and other belief systems. Examples are Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. There are these and many more.
